I purchased this and was initially very excited, but less so after it arrived. I envisioned this item replacing my finderscope, which I have problems aligning.

I installed it on a Celestron NexStar 8 GPS telescope, but found that the dovetail bracket with 2 screw holes is sized so that you can get one NexStar 8 accessory screw into it. I contacted Celestron and they said the holes do not line up exactly on all scopes and that it should be secure enough with one screw. It seemed to be, but it didn’t look the greatest.

My second issue was that you can only see the green beam when your eyes are sufficiently dark adapted and there is very low ambient light. Even after being outside 30 minutes under a relatively dark sky, I could only see the beam clearly with averted vision. Most times, I had to put my hand in front of it to even make sure it was still on since I couldn’t see it.

The third issue (that caused me to return this item) is that it stopped working after one 10-minute use. The battery was not dead, but the laser was. It refused to turn on.
